WELLBEING: Widening Participation Project

A Peaceful Christmas

Having been awarded funding from the University of Ulster as part of its widening access and participation strategy, I worked with PIPS Charity for suicide awareness, The Science Shop and two post-primary schools in North Belfast to design Christmas cards suitable to send to someone who had suffered a bereavement. North Belfast has one of the highest suicide rates in Europe and the project was a way of initiating conversations around emotional wellbeing with young people. Grainne Lavery, pictured opposite was one of the winning designers. Six designs were chosen to be printed and all proceeds from the sale of the cards went to PIPS Charity.
